Home Remodeling in Phoenix, Arizona
Phoenix homes and homeowners come with very different remodeling goals, but substantial renovations have one thing in common: they require good planning before the first wall comes down. Stronghold coordinates the scope, selections, trades and construction so a larger project can move forward as one organized renovation.

Building Better Homes Across Arizona
Stronghold Arizona Enterprises LLC
A homeowner may be modernizing a long-owned property, reworking a layout after a move, adding space for family, improving indoor-outdoor living or combining several overdue updates into one larger project. The right solution depends on the home and the priorities — not on forcing every project into the same remodeling package.
Stronghold’s role is to bring structure to that complexity. The team can help translate the wish list into a defined construction scope, coordinate the many trades involved and keep the project focused on a cohesive finished result rather than a series of disconnected repairs and upgrades.

Frequently Asked Questions
Planning a home remodel often comes with questions about the process, timeline, costs, permits, and what to expect along the way. We want Phoenix homeowners to feel informed and confident before starting their project.
Do I need historic preservation approval to remodel a home in a Phoenix historic district?
If a Phoenix home is located in a designated historic district, exterior changes and certain improvements may require additional review before work begins. Interior-only cosmetic updates may be simpler, but changes that affect the exterior appearance, additions, windows, doors, rooflines, or other visible features can trigger historic preservation requirements.
Stronghold can help identify when additional review may be needed and coordinate the remodel around the property’s requirements so the work is planned correctly before construction starts.
How large can a casita be in Phoenix, and can neighbors or an HOA stop it?
Phoenix allows ADUs on qualifying single-family properties, subject to zoning and lot-coverage requirements. The City states that an individual ADU may generally be up to 75% of the gross floor area of the main house, with a maximum of 1,000 square feet on lots up to 10,000 square feet and up to 3,000 square feet on larger lots.
A neighboring property owner does not have a general approval right over an otherwise compliant ADU. Private HOA rules can still matter, however, so homeowners should check the CC&Rs for their community. Stronghold can evaluate the property and handle the design and permitting side while the homeowner confirms any private HOA restrictions.
How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Phoenix?
Stronghold’s current published guidance is $10,000–$20,000 for a minor bathroom remodel and $20,000–$40,000 for a major bathroom remodel. The final price depends on the bathroom size, layout, finishes, fixture selections, plumbing and electrical changes, accessibility features, and existing conditions.
What does a general contractor do during a remodel?
A general contractor coordinates the people, scope, schedule, materials, permits, and construction details needed to complete the remodel. That can include planning the work, coordinating trade partners, managing inspections, communicating with the homeowner, and keeping the project moving through each phase.
Stronghold’s design-build process gives homeowners one coordinated team for planning, pre-construction, construction, and final walkthrough instead of leaving them to manage each piece separately.
Do I need an architect or engineer for an addition and interior remodel?
It depends on the scope. Some additions, structural changes, roofline changes, wall removals, or complex remodels may require plans, engineering, or other professional input before permits can be submitted. Smaller interior updates may not require the same level of design documentation.
Stronghold reviews the project goals and existing conditions, then helps determine what plans, engineering, or permitting steps are needed before construction begins.
Should I renovate my Phoenix home all at once or in phases?
Both approaches can work. Renovating all at once may be more efficient when the work affects connected rooms, shared systems, flooring, windows, plumbing, electrical, or layout. Phasing can make sense when homeowners want to manage budget, timing, or disruption.
Stronghold can help plan the full direction first, then determine whether the work should happen together or be broken into logical phases.
