Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a home remodel often comes with questions about the process, timeline, costs, permits, and what to expect along the way. We want Apache Junction homeowners to feel informed and confident before starting their project.

What if my Apache Junction home has an older or unpermitted addition?

Stronghold encounters unpermitted work and evaluates it before incorporating it into a new remodel. The team looks at safety, code compliance, zoning, and budget feasibility, and will not modify or build onto work that cannot be brought up to current code.

Apache Junction requires permits for residential additions and provides separate requirements for remodeling, garage-to-living-space conversions, and other residential construction. Stronghold can evaluate the existing condition and determine what needs to happen before new work moves forward.

What does an aging-in-place remodel include?

An aging-in-place remodel may include safer bathroom access, a walk-in or zero-threshold shower, grab bars or blocking for future grab bars, improved lighting, slip-resistant flooring, accessible storage, comfort-height fixtures, and layout changes that create safer movement through the space. The exact scope depends on the homeowner’s current needs and how they want the home to support them over time.

Stronghold can evaluate the existing home and recommend updates that improve safety, function, and long-term usability.

How do payments work on a remodeling project, and how much is due upfront?

Stronghold’s current payment structure begins with an initial down payment of 40–50% of the total project cost, followed by progress payments tied to project milestones and a final payment at completion. The exact payment schedule is documented in the project agreement.

What should I have ready before requesting a remodeling estimate?

You do not need to have every detail figured out before contacting Stronghold. It is helpful to be ready to discuss what part of the home you want to change, what is not working in the existing space, your priorities and must-haves, your general budget, your desired timing, and whether you already have plans or are still in the idea stage.

If available, inspiration photos, Pinterest or Houzz examples, sketches, and photos of the existing space can help communicate the vision. Stronghold’s discovery process is designed to gather the rest of the information needed to define the scope, identify design or permitting needs, and build a realistic proposal.

What permits does a Apache Junction remodel or addition need?

Permit requirements depend on the scope. Additions, structural changes, garage conversions, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other substantial remodeling work may require permits through Apache Junction or the applicable jurisdiction.

Stronghold reviews the scope, identifies which permits are needed, and manages the applicable permitting process before construction begins.

Should I renovate my Apache Junction home all at once or in phases?

The best approach depends on budget, timing, whether the home will be occupied, and how connected the work is. If the project involves multiple rooms, shared flooring, structural work, plumbing, electrical, or major finish updates, grouping the work together may create a more efficient and cohesive result.

If the homeowner needs to manage disruption or investment over time, Stronghold can help phase the work in a way that still protects the long-term plan.
